                     1400 hrs Hunters Chisworth

Members of the Longdendale and Glossopdale Footpath Society met at Chisworth for a walk onto the Intakes. Their route off Marple Road commenced beside the Hunters and lead to the village recreation field. A workman contracted to Chisworth Parish council was re-setting the stone steps leading up into the field. A new handrail was also being added. The path lead across the field and alongside the wall to Higher Chisworth.

Taking a path west of Lucking Barn the ramblers made their way onto the Intakes and crossed the flat plateau west of Intakes Farm. The adjacent field wall climbed over an ancient burial mound and to the south another tumulus Brown low was protected by a belt of woodland. Coming off the Intakes a path descended to Sanders Lane and the field path taken to Brick Houses on the Stockport border.
Down through the chicken runs the walkers took a route onto Stirrup Lane and reached Boar Fold.

Going down to the river a track lead them by the waterfall at Boar Steps and onto the riverside meadow. Ahead the bridge across the Etherow was fenced off pending repair, however a new wicket gate had been installed enabling the walkers pas up river to Broadbottom Beach and ascend the Cown Edge Way to Far Woodseats.

Far Woodseats Lane took the hikers back onto Marple Road, at Chew Wood the path leading to Rarewood and Kinderlee give views of the mill being converted to apartments. Back into Chisworth and off home.
